Lewisville took 4th place in the 2018 challenge but had 265 active participants, lost 191 pounds, and engaged in 569,644 minutes of physical activity, great work Lewisville! Now, lets see how many people we can get to commit to health in 2019 and go for 1st place
Lewisville Parks & Recreation will be sponsoring the 2020's It's Time Texas Community Challenge again this year! The challenge will run Jan. 6 - March 1 and pre-registration is now open. Sign up before the challenge starts to earn an extra 200 points for Lewisville! Registration takes about 5 minutes and you get 500 (+200 extra) points for Lewisville just for registering. Encourage your friends, family, and co-workers to get involved and turn it into a friendly competition.

How to register for the challenge (detailed directions)
The challenge starts on Jan. 6, you can earn points by doing any of the following:
-Sync your Fitbit or Workout Tracker
-Upload "healthy selfies"
-Log any physical activity
-Log any weight loss
-Watch the "Living Healthier Video Lesson" for points

Couch Potato to 5K
Feb. 5 - April 8
Couch Potato to 5K is part of a Community Challenge hosted by Lewisville Parks and Recreation in conjunction with It’s Time Texas. This program is geared to help individuals who are currently less active get up and move and designed to be a 10-week course and will gradually increase the physical activity each week. The first meeting will be on Feb. 5 and conclude with the participation in the Denton County Dash 5K Walk/Run on April 8. Information and registration packets can be picked up at Frederick P. Herring Recreation Center.

Couch Potato to 5K meetings will be held on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at various park locations. Meetings will be held on Wednesday evenings: Feb 5, Feb 12, Feb 19, Feb 26, March 4, March 11, March 18, March 25, April 1, and April 8.
